What is the opening size of the rivet stud
What should the opening diameter of the plate hole be set during the installation of the press riveted stud?
As for the opening size of nut column, we have specially sorted it into the following table, with specifications ranging from M3-M6 and American specifications ranging from 440 to 0420.
The so-called plate hole diameter refers to this size (plate hole of thin plate):
Table of opening dimensions of metric rivet nut column:
Thread code | Plate aperture in mm + 0.08 |
M3 | 4.2 |
3.5M3 | 5.4 |
M3.5 | 5.4 |
6.0M4 | 6.0 |
M4 | 7.14 |
M5 | 7.14 |
M6 | 8.75 |
Hole size table of American rivet nut column:
Thread code | Plate aperture in mm + 0.003 |
440 | 0.166 |
6440 | 0.213 |
632 | 0.213 |
8632 | 0.281 |
832 | 0.281 |
032 | 0.281 |
0420 | 0.344 |
What is worth mentioning is the difference between the stud specifications M3 and 3.5M3. The bottom hole of 3.5M3 press riveted stud is 5.4 and the bottom hole of M3 nut stud is 4.2.
The above discussion is only about the plate aperture corresponding to the rivet stud.
